Following reports on Tuesday that the N6.08 trillion 2016 budget was missing at the National Assembly, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, had a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Saraki was at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday night for a meeting with the President, ostensibly over the missing budget.
However, he declined speaking with journalists on the missing document after the meeting.
President Buhari had submitted the document to the National Assembly last December and it was supposed to be deliberated on by the Senate on Tuesday.
But after a closed-door meeting which lasted over an hour, Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, was said to have announced to his colleagues that the hard and soft copies of the budget document were no longer found.
This came some days after it was speculated that the Presidency had withdrawn the budget for adjustments, which Ndume said it was not possible. He said corrections could only be made by the executive only after the legislative arm of government scrutinised it.
