Former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Patrick Akpobolokemi, appeared in court with the help of a walking stick.
Akpobolokemi was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over alleged fraudulent land deal of the Nigerian Maritime University. He was arrested by the agency in December 2015.
At a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Thursday, the ex-NIMASA DG was spotted in crutches and was escorted into the courtroom by the EFCC operatives.
His counsel, Nwabikwe Joseph, expressed optimism that his client would leave the custody of the EFCC on Thursday, where he has been since his arrest.
