Former Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, commonly known as Tompolo, says he has no hand in the bombing of oil facilities in Delta State on Friday morning.
Some suspected militants had attacked Escravos gas pipeline in the Warri area of Delta State barely 24 hours after a court in Lagos directed the police to arrest Tompolo. The ex-militant leader still commands a huge respect in the Niger Delta.
Speaking through his media aide, Paul Bebenimibo, on Friday, Tompolo condemned the attack, advising the perpetrators to change their ways.
“I am not responsible for the attack and I condemn it as a dastardly act. I am aware that some persons might want to destroy oil installations and link it with me that was why I said before time that I have nothing to do with it,” the former militant leader said.
Tompolo further stressed that, “I could not have gone ahead to carry out such action knowing that every finger will be pointed at me because of my case with the Federal Government.”
