Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu has commended the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas and his personnel for the synergy and partnership with the Corps in tackling the issue of pipeline vandalism, oil theft.
Abdullahi stated that while the core job the Corps is to protect critical infrastructure and national assets, the collaboration of other stakeholders in combating the menace will also assist it in bringing the illicit acts to a halt.
He said the Nigerian Navy has been very cooperative in this aspect, and called on other agencies to emulate the Navy.
Gana said the good working relationship between the NSCDC and the Navy has contributed to the success in prosecuting criminals caught especially in Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta and other states in the country.
He singled out the arrest of some suspects in Lagos recently by the Nigerian Navy, who were handed over to the Corps for further investigation and prosecution.
Gana pledged that the Corps will continue to ensure that all those involved in these acts of sabotage will be prosecuted in accordance to the laws of the Federation.
He cautioned those involved in the act to quit the business or leave the country because they are in for a tough time.
