Wife of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Muhammadu Uwais, Maryam, has been appointed as Special Adviser to the President on Social Protection Plan.
The appointment was made by the President, Muhammadu Buhari, some weeks ago, according to what a source told Premium Times.
Mrs Uwais is a lawyer based in Abuja and she has since been deployed to the office of Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, where she is coordinating the government’s social protection schemes, including a N60billion micro credit scheme for artisans and market women.
The new appointee is armed with more than 30 years experience, including serving as principal partner at Wali Uwais & Co. She was called to bar in 1981 after graduating with an LL.B from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, in 1980.
