No fewer than two persons were said to have lost their lives on Monday when members of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, staged a protest in Aba, Abia State on Monday.
The demonstration was to call for the release of the detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who is also is the Director of Radio Biafra. Nnamdi is being held by the Department of State Services, DSS.
During the protest, members of IPOB and security operatives clashed, which led to the death of at least two people.
It was gathered that trouble started when the demonstrators attempted to block the Aba-Enugu highway, but were prevented by a team of the military and police.
They later reportedly regrouped at Saint Michael road to make bonfires, but were prevented also by the security agents. The atmosphere was heated up, which led to a violent scenario.
However, security operatives denied any fatal casualty.
