Alleged N1tn Fraud: Lamorde’s Absence Halts Probe

The Senate on Monday said the absence of erstwhile chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Lamorde, has delayed investigation into his alleged diversion of N1 trillion recovered stolen funds.

Lamorde has been invited by the lawmakers about three times, but he has not yet honoured them and this has caused a setback to the probe.

His counsel, Festus Keyamo, who represented him at a panel in November 2015, told the Senators that his client had been sick and was flown abroad for medication.

The former EFCC boss got into this mess after one George Uboh wrote a petition against Lamorde in August 2015, accusing him of diverting N1 trillion the Commission recovered from stolen funds.
