Justice John Tsoho, the trial judge, held that they were not entitled to bail as they failed to show that they would not continue to commit the alleged crime for which they were being prosecuted for.

According to the judge, the accused may likely interfere with or intimidate prosecuting witnesses.

Justice Tsoho further held that the major suspect’s admission to owning dual citizenship passports of Nigeria and Britain gives the fear that he might jump bail. The judge said he would rather authorise a speedy hearing of the case rather than granting Kanu bail.

Kanu was ordered back to Kuje prison, while the trial was adjourned till February 9, 10, 11 and 12.
