Bayern Munich boss, Pep Guardiola, has been confirmed to take over as Manchester City boss.
The 45-year-old Spaniard agreed a three-year contract to become City manager in the summer. He will succeed City’s present Chilean coach, Manuel Pellegrini, who is expected to leave the club on June 30, 2016.
According to a statement by Manchester City, negotiations with the former Barcelona gaffer had been “a recommencement of discussions that were curtailed in 2012,” when Roberto Mancini was in charge of the club.
The club further said the 62-year-old Chilean was “fully supportive” of the announcement of his successor.
Pellegrini took over as City coach in 2013 and won a Premier League and League Cup double the following season.
He has so far won 64 of his 99 Premier League games as a manager of the club. He is still in the race for four different titles this season, including the Champions League.
Before now, Guardiola was heavily linked with City’s arch-rival, Manchester United.
