The leadership of the Senate on Wednesday had a closed-door meeting with the Service Chiefs to discuss security issues in north east of the country.
The meeting was presided over by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and was attended by some other lawmakers and the Service Chiefs.
Saraki was briefed on the latest developments and ways to further tackle terrorism in the country.
The indoor meeting lasted for about an hour and the Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, who addressed newsmen after the meeting, said the deliberations were highly confidential as it wholly entailed brainstorming on security matters the country is faced with.
“It will be wrong for me to disclose details of security meeting,” he said when asked the outcome of the meeting, but he said, “We are satisfied because we have never had this type of meeting before. We are part of it now… we know what is the problem. We know what is the solution.”
However, Senate Committee Chairman on Defence, Ahmad Lawan, was not present at the discussions.
