Saraki Won’t Resign Until Found Guilty—Ndume

Senate Leader, Mohammed Ali Ndume has maintained that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, will not bow to pressure to tender his resignation letter due to his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT.

Ndume made this known on Tuesday while addressing State House correspondents in Abuja.

The senator from Borno State gave condition for Saraki’s resignation, which he said is only if the Senate President has been proven guilty of the false assets’ declaration allegation levelled against him.

Ndume, who alongside other senators went on a consultation visit to the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, stressed that Saraki should not be convicted before trial.

He asked, “Are you saying that the Senate President should be convicted before the trial? In our Constitution, you are considered innocent until proven guilty.”

There have been calls for the resignation of the Senate President in respect for his office because of his trial at the CCT.
