Ali Modu Emerges Acting PDP Chair

Former governor of Borno State has been named acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Sheriff was not initially among those invited to be screened by the National Caucus of PDP. He was later called alongside former chairman of the Economic
and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu to join race for the party’s chairmanship position.

But after deliberations, the former Borno governor, who was once accused of being among sponsors of the deadly Boko Haram sect, was named Chairman of the PDP.

It would be recalled that former Political Adviser to the immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan, Ahmed Gulak, got a court injunction sacking Prince Uche Secondus as acting chairman of the party. He argued that it was necessary to appoint a new chairman from the North-east for the zone to complete Adamu Mu’azu’s tenure who resigned in May 2015.
