The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been sued by embattled Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Rickey Tarfa for an alleged violation of his right to privacy.
Tarfa claimed the EFCC accessed his call records on his phone with mobile number 08034600000 without his consent and made available to online news media, including Sahara Reporters with no lawful court order.
The senior lawyer is asking the court to order the Commission to pay him N5 billion for damages.
Others joined in the suit are MTN Nigeria Communications Limited, Mrs Rashidatou Abdou, Femi Falana (SAN) and the EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu.
On February 5, the anti-graft agency arrested Tarfa and seized his two mobile phones and his Mercedez Benz SUV with registration number KJA 700 CG, on the allegation of preventing the arrest of two alleged suspects who are his clients.
