Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has been told to vacate his position by a group of protesters, who stormed the National Assembly on Tuesday.
The group, Open Society Coalition, OSC, called on Saraki to immediately tender his resignation letter and focus on his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, where he is facing charges bordering on false declaration of assets.
Members of the group carried placards carrying various inscriptions, including this, ‘Suspend Saraki, not Marafa. Stop suspending members, Saraki leave the Senate and face CCT.’
Tuesday’s demonstration followed plans by the Senate to suspend Senator Kabiru Marafa over alleged unguided statements against the red chamber and Saraki.
