Not less than nine persons have reportedly been feared dead in a renewed attack on several communities in Agatu, Benue State, by armed herdsmen dislodged by security forces on Sunday evening
This was confirmed by the state governor, Samuel Ortom, on Tuesday, who lamented the spate of killing in the villages.
According to Ortom, the latest attack lasted for over three hours.
He made this known while addressing journalists shortly after inaugurating a committee on renewable energy in the state.
Ortom added that a number of Agatu villages were burnt to the ground.
He promised to look into matter, hinting that he is working with his Nasarawa State counterpart in addressing the security threats posed by the Fulani herdsmen.
