Lagos Police Command has disclosed that about 105 persons have been apprehended in connection with the fracas that broke out at Mile 12 Market on Thursday.
Mile 12 Market is a popular place in Lagos where food stuffs are sold in bulk and it is mostly populated by Hausa and Yoruba traders.
The riot on Thursday saw the destruction of several properties, including houses and vehicles. Also, human casualties were recorded during the civil unrest.
Spokesperson of the Police Command in Lagos, Dolapo Badmus told AFP that 105 suspects were nabbed “in connection with the disturbances in and around Mile 12 market.”
She disclosed that, “Three people died in the fracas” and noted that “the suspects will be charged shortly with murder, arson and breach of public peace.”
Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode shut down the market on Thursday and imposed curfew on the area.
