Police in Ogun State have apprehended a fleeing member of the dreadful Boko Haram group from the northeast Nigeria.
The suspect was said to have been nabbed by security forces in Mowe area of the state, a town very close to Lagos.
Parading the suspect on Monday at the headquarters of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, at Magbon in Abeokuta, the Commissioner of Police in the state, AbdulMajid Ali, said the suspect, Umaru Muktar, 22, confessed to being a member of the sect.
Muktar, who spoke through an interpreter, revealed that he is from Gonge in Maiduguri, Borno state.
It was gathered that the Boko Haram suspect was arrested at Kara in Mowe area of Ogun State on February 25, 2026, following a tip-off.
The police chief disclosed that during interrogation, it was discovered that Muktar fled Maiduguri two and half years ago to Ogun.
He said his men were able to nab the suspect following exchange of intelligence between the Command and its counterparts in Borno State coupled with support of members of the Hausa community in Kara.
