On Monday, March 7, 2016, a public hearing was held to debate the Frivolous Petition Bill, also called the Social Media Bill.
There have been hues and cries over the bill based on fears that it is being sponsored to tame social media in Nigeria.
But the Senate had severally said that the bill is not meant to clipped the wings of the media, especially the social media.
Many will not easily forget the role the social media played to frustrate the immediate past government of President Goodluck Jonathan.
The present ruling party, which was in early 2015 still an opposition party, used the social media to win the presidential poll.
