The removal of Mrs Jumoke Akindele as Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly has now been reversed.
On Tuesday night, 18 of the 26 members of the Assembly signed the impeachment notice of the Speaker and her deputy, Fatai Olotu.
They did not give reasons for their action then.
But on Wednesday, the lawmakers addressed a press conference in Akure, disclosing that they have resolved the issue, adding that the House leadership was still intact and united.
Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Olamide George, who addressed newsmen at the Governor’s office, declined answering questions after his speech.
“Before the plenary today, members of the Assembly at a larger and official gathering, met to review the situation and consequently resolved to reverse the impeachment of the speaker and her deputy.
“The House of Assembly remains united and doing its constitutional responsibilities,” he said in his short speech.
It would be recalled that after the Speaker was impeached on Tuesday night at about 10pm, Iroju Ogundeji representing Odigbo Constituency 1 was announced as the new Speaker, while Ayo Arowele from Owo Constituency 1 was elected his deputy.
