The SAT-3 submarine cable formerly owned by NITEL is currently back in service after being off some time now.
The satellite is at the moment in the possession of Ntel after the company acquired NITEL from the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The new owners of the company have concluded plans to roll out services and battle for subscribers in the large Nigerian telecommunications market.
According to reports, repairs on the cable have been completed by Ntel and it is now back onstream ahead of the kick off of business by the new owners.
It was gathered that the cable has now been moved away from shipping lanes in the approach to Lagos Port, because previous damages to cable in the past had been associated with the dropping and dragging of ships’ anchors.
