Sixteen members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly have now found refuge in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, following alleged plots by the police to arrest them.

The congressmen on Wednesday addressed the media at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, council office in Ibadan, stressing that nothing will make them impeach Governor Ayodele Fayose from office.

The lawmakers further disclosed that they are determined to resist any plan by the All Progressives Congress, APC-led Federal Government to cripple the state government.

Chairman, House Committee on Information, Youths and Sports, Honourable Gboyega Aribisogan, explained to newsmen that they had to run to Ibadan because they no longer feel safe in Ekiti. He said their lives are being threatened.

Aribisogan said the FG wants to coerce them to remove Fayose at all cost; a move he claimed has put the state under siege in the last few weeks.

“Everybody should understand that human right activists are nowhere to be found, there is conspiracy of silence from the other angle, the only hope is the press. We are not going to hide, the Ekiti lawmakers are not going to neglect our duties,” Aribisogun said on behalf of the 15 others.
