Federal Government has intervened in the crisis rocking the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, met with aggrieved members and factions of the union in Abuja on Thursday and sued for peace.
At the end of the meeting, all parties agreed to work together as one and commence 24 hours service at its petrol stations so as to clear queues at petrol points in the country within the next two weeks.
Kachikwu, at the meeting, which took place at the corporate headquarters of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, constituted a 14-man committee and tasked them to return lasting peace to IPMAN at all levels.
National Secretary of IPMAN, Danladi Pasali, disclosed that his association is ready to work with the FG to end the fuel situation in Nigeria.
Pasali said, “In the spirit of reconciliation and patriotism, we have resolved to forget our differences and work together towards providing products to our various stations across the country in order to ease the hardship on Nigerians.”
IPMAN stressed that it is a very critical stakeholder in the country’s downstream sector.
