Real Madrid defeated their arch-rival in La Liga, Barcalona, 2-1 in a not-too-classy El-Classico match played on Saturday night at the Camp Nou.
Sergio Ramos saw a second yellow card six minutes from time, which left the Spain’s capital giants end the encounter with 10 men.
Gerard Pique put Barca ahead in the second half, in the 56th minutes, but Karim Benzema levelled for the visitor few minutes later.
Gareth Bale had put the Madrid ahead in the match, but it was ruled out by the referee after he got information from his linesman to cancel the goal.
However, the short-one Madrid pressed on and their efforts were crowned with a goal from Ronaldo barely five minutes to the end of the game.
With the win, Madrid have now ended Barcelona’s 39 unbeaten streaks and has thrown open the title challenge.
Earlier, Atletico Madrid beat Real Betis 4-1.
