United now have 53 points, one behind City and two above West Ham, who hope to give the two Manchester clubs a battle for the last Champions League spot.
Earlier before kickoff, United great, Sir Bobby Charlton was honoured for his 60 years with the club. Also, the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand in a section of the Old Trafford Stadium was unveiled to the public.
