A seven-member executive has been elected to run the affairs of the Cross River State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, for three years.
The result declared by the Assistant National Secretary of the Union, James Uwem indicates that Victor Udu of the State Ministry of Information scored eighty six votes to defeat two other candidates.
Umem who conducted the election commended members for exhibiting high level maturity during the exercise.
Addressing the new executive and members of the union, the State Commissioner for Information, Mrs. Rosemary Archibong called for unbiased reportage to maintain the peace in the State.
The Commissioner said the State Government would continue to work with journalists to ensure the speedy development of the State.
