President Muhammadu Buhari was on Friday, April 8, 2016, not present at the emergency Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Reason for his absence was not disclosed to State House correspondents.
Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, took his place and presided over the meeting.
It was learnt that details of the 2016 budget received on Thursday by the Presidency were sparingly looked into.
The meeting commenced around 11am and State House correspondents were told to leave the Council Chambers for a closed door session by members of FEC.
Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, who addressed the media after the meeting, explained that the emergency FEC meeting was majorly to avail the ministers the opportunity to study the details of the budget as it concerns their various ministries before the assent of the President.
