The suspension and removal of the council chairman of Oredo local government area of Edo State, Osaro Obazee, has been upturned by a court in Benin, the state capital.
Aproko247 reliably gathered that Justice Esohe Ikponmwen of High Court 2, Benin City, set aside the suspension, which many loyalists of Obazee described as illegal.
At the hearing on Thursday, April 14, 2016, the court ruled that it was wrong Obazee to be booted out of office the way it went.
The Oredo council boss had approached the court to challenge his suspension and removal from office.
It was believed that the Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, and some lawmakers in the Edo State House Assembly pushed for the removal of Obazee from office.
Obazee was shown the way out of office on allegations bordering on embezzlement, non-payment of salaries, appointment of unauthorized personnel, amongst others, which the council chairman has denied.
