Four persons have been confirmed dead in the unfortunate train accident that occurred on Saturday in Jebba, Kwara State.
Assistant Director in charge of Publicity in the Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, Rauf Akinloye, disclosed to journalists on Sunday that three other passengers also sustained injuries in the accident involving the Lagos-Kano train.
According to Akinloye, corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary while those injured were discharged after receiving treatment.
He explained that the rear portion of the train that derailed caused the accident and lead to the death of the four persons.
Akinloye further said the damaged tracks were being repaired in order to restore North-South services.
He assured travellers of safety of life and properties while travelling on the trains in spite of the incident.
