Civil Defence Officials Kill 3 Militants In Bayelsa

No fewer than three suspected Niger Delta militants were killed in Bayelsa State by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC. The suspects were killed during a shoot out.

According to reports, the Civil Defence men gunned down the militants on Saturday along the Snake Creeks in the Nembe area of the state.

During the operation, two operatives of the corps sustained gunshot wounds and they are presently undergoing treatments at the hospital.

Also, many of the suspected hoodlums fled with gunshot injuries during the shoot out.

Commandant of the NSCDC in Bayelsa, Desmond Agu, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that his men were on patrol when they came under fire from the suspected militants.

“The NSCDC personnel, while on patrol along the Snake Creek within Nembe Creeks, came under heavy attack from the criminals operating along that area. After the ensuing gunbattle, three of the assailants were killed while the rest escaped with gunshot injuries.

“Two NSCDC personnel sustained minor gunshot injuries but have been treated and discharged from the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa,” Agu said.
