A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has declared as illegal the Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by Ahmed Markarfi.
Makarfi was appointed last Saturday after Ali Modu Sheriff was removed as the National Chairman of the PDP at the National Convention of the party held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Justice Ibrahim Buba declared the committee as invalid. In the ruling, the judge directed the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to enforce his order, barring the members of the constituted caretaker committee from taking over the affairs of the party.
This is coming when a similar court in Rivers State barred Sheriff from parading himself as national officer of the opposition party.
