Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, on Thursday, signed into law, the Bill creating 37 new Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs in the state.
The ceremony was witnessed in Abeokuta, the state capital, by members of his cabinet.
In his speech shortly after signing the Bill into law, Amosun noted that the creation of the new LCDAs would bring development closer to the people.
He explained further that his quest to develop Ogun State and make residents enjoy the dividends of democracy inspired him to create the additional councils.
The Governor also used the occasion to appreciate members of the Ogun State House of Assembly for the painstaking work they did on the Bill.
The 37 new LCDAs will now add to the existing 20 Local Government Areas of the state bringing the total figure to 57.
