“The main opposition party in the country will in 2019 take back the reins of governance at the centre,” says Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Delta State Chapter, Barrister Kingsley Esiso.

“Come 2019, we not only intend to return our miracle working Governor to the Government House, but by the grace of God and the goodwill of the Nigerians, we intend to produce a president of PDP extraction to Aso Rock, in order to change the change that is presently so negative, so deceitful and so unpopular,” he added.

Esiso, who spoke on Friday at the inauguration of the newly elected local government chairmen of the party, urged party leaders to be fair, just and equitable.

“You are coming on board at a very critical time in the history of our great party, a time when our party is in the opposition at the centre and therefore the need for us to be more proactive in terms of our dealings with members of our party and the electorate, a time when the economy is seriously nose-diving, and therefore, the sources of revenue to run the party cannot be as it used to be, so you must be more creative in running the activities of the party,” he said.

“A time when the people are becoming more aware and more politically sophisticated, therefore the need to increase our tempo of contact, reconciliation and mobilization with our members and the public, as we must always see ourselves as advocates of the programmes and policies of government, working to bring our people closer to the activities of government.

“This, we must do by continuously sensitizing and educating our members and non-members of our party in order to constantly keep them informed of happenings in the political space.”

He appealed to the chairmen to work together for the interest of the party.

“There is the need for you to have regard and respect for various leaders that populate your different local government areas, but please do not and I repeat, do not tie yourself to any particular leader as that will not be the direction of the party under my watch.”

“As local government chairmen, it is your duty and responsibility to call party meetings at your local government areas, this you are expected to do not less than twice a month. The need to hold regular meetings cannot be overemphasized. I urge you to take this very seriously and pass this message to the ward chairmen.”

“As party chairmen, you must take the social activities of our members seriously, whenever there is need to go and rejoice with any of our member or there is need to go and stay or stand with any of our member, we should mobilize our party men and women to do so,” he added.
