Barkindo’s appointment was rectified at a meeting of the 13-member OPEC held on Thursday, July 2, in Vienna, Austria.
The Nigerian replaced Libya’s Abdalla El-Badri, who was elected as acting secretary-general in December until the end of July after serving full terms.
