Reports reaching us confirm that Nigeria’s nominee for the post of secretary general of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, Mohammed Barkindo, has been given the plum job.
Aproko247 gathered that OPEC approved the appointment of Barkindo as the new secretary-general of the international body.
Barkindo’s appointment was rectified at a meeting of the 13-member OPEC held on Thursday, July 2, in Vienna, Austria.
The Nigerian replaced Libya’s Abdalla El-Badri, who was elected as acting secretary-general in December until the end of July after serving full terms.
