A meeting between the governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, and labour leaders in the state ended in a stalemate on Thursday.
Workers in the state embarked on an industrial action over the non-payment of their five months’ salaries.
Mimiko had called the meeting with the workers to appeal to them to return to work, but his pleas fell into deaf ears.
The governor’s proposal to first pay health workers one month salary was rejected by the labour leaders.
Top officials of the Ondo government were at the Thursday’s meeting with the workers.
The labour leaders said the government was not ready to dance to their tunes and have vowed to continue the strike.
