The trial of erstwhile Chairman of DAAR Communications Plc., Raymond Dokpesi, at the Federal High Court, Abuja, was on Wednesday stalled again due to the absence of the prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) in court.
At the resumed hearing on Wednesday, the defence counsel, Ifedayo Adedipe, told the court that his colleague, the prosecuting counsel, was not present for the proceedings.
Adedipe said Jacobs had earlier sent a message to the defence team, informing them of his absence because he was scheduled to appear in another case at the Appeal Court on the same day.
He said that the information had been communicated to the lead counsel for the defence, Wole Olanipekun (SAN), who had already flown into Abuja from Lagos for the case.
This forced Justice James Tsoho to adjourn the matter to Wednesday, October 19, 2016.
Dokpesi is standing trial for an alleged fraud to the tune of N2.1 billion. He was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commissions, EFCC.
It would be recalled that the case had suffered several adjournments at the instance of the prosecution.
