The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State has elected a candidate for the September 2016 governorship election.
Last Saturday, the All Progressives Congress, APC, chose its candidate for the polls, which is gradually getting closer by the day.
Delegates at the PDP primaries held on Monday, elected Osagie Ize Iyamu to battle it out with Godwin Obaseki of the APC at the election later this year.
Ize Iyamu, who once served as Chief of Staff and later
Secretary to the Edo State Government under the present Governor Adams Oshiomhole, defeated two others to clinch the party’s sole ticket.
He scored 584 votes to pick the ticket, while Solomon Edebiri; and Mathew Iduoriyekemwen polled 38 and 91 votes respectively.
The primaries were held at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City.
