Chuma Resigns As ANCOP President After 3 Weeks

Barely a month after he was elected to succeed Alex Eyengho as the new president of Association of Nollywood Core Producers, ANCOP, Eze Harris Chuma, has tendered his resignation, leaving many to wonder what could have gone wrong.

New ANCOP Boss Eyes Corruption-free Nollywood

In his open letter to Chairman, Board of Trustees, BoT, and members of the association, Chuma said his decision was because of some external influences trying to force some things on him.

“Dear creative colleagues and members of ANCOP, I wish to officially announce my resignation as the President of Association of Nollywood Core Producers (ANCOP).

“Thank you all for the support and opportunity given to me to serve. However, it will be fool hardy to keep mute over the ship-wrecking issues towering against my office as the newly elected President of ANCOP.

“It is quite obvious and beyond doubt that there are individuals whose personal interest appears to be at conflict with eminent changes being proposed by my leadership.

“These individuals have quietly held secret meetings on how to continuously stir the affairs of ANCOP like a private estate. I make bold to state that based on my wealth of experience and commitments in Nollywood, I cannot be easily cowed to yield to the dictatorial tendencies of some characters whose firm grip on ANCOP remains and cannot be challenged.

“In view of these early development in the life span of my regime, and having been fed up with the recognizable anomalies prevailing against the development and growth of ANCOP, I hereby make bold to say that the Association as presently constituted is at variance with my understanding of true democratic setting, as such would not guarantee a productive governance under my watch.

“I am grateful for the opportunity offered me to lead ANCOP but will not be subjected to the suicidal hanger deployed to ambush my leadership. With every sense of civility I pray to be excused. Permit me to step aside.

“Thank you and God bless you all,” his letter read.
