IGP Deploys Tactical Team To Ogun To Flush Out Criminals

Acting Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has deployed a Tactical Operation Unit to Arepo and Ibafo areas of Ogun State to flush out vandals and other criminal elements operating in two communities.

A statement issued by the Force spokesman, DCP Don Awunah, disclosed that the unit comprises the Police Mobile Force, the Counter-Terrorism Unit with the back-up of an Air Surveillance Team.

Their aim, according to the IGP, is to ensure that normalcy returns to Arepo and Ibafo in record time.

Idris was quoted in the statement to have said that the Nigeria Police Force will not watch any criminal group or groups take the law into their hands and therefore authorized the Unit to deal decisively with anyone who constitutes himself an enemy of the State, while asking law-abiding citizens of the area to return home and go about their normal businesses.

It would be recalled that Arepo and Ibafo in Ogun State have for sometimes now been in the news for the wrong reasons due to anti-social behaviours of miscreants.
