The public holidays declared by the Federal Government to celebrate the end of the one-month long Ramadan fast has been extended.
The FG had last week declared Tuesday and Wednesday this week for the Eid el-Fitr, but due to the announcement on Monday by the President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, Sa’ad Abubakar III, who is the Sultan of Sokoto, that the fast continues on Tuesday (today) because of non sighting of the moon, the holiday has been extended by a day.
A statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, disclosed that the FG has now declared Wednesday 6th and Thursday July 7, 2016 as public holiday.
