The Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District in the Senate, Oluremi Tinubu, has requested police protection from the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, following a misunderstanding she had with Senator Dino Melaye from Kogi State last week.
Mrs Tinubu claimed that last person Melaye had issues with while at the House of Representatives, died in mysterious manner.
“It was the timely intervention of a number of colleagues which prevented Senator Melaye from unleashing a physical attack on me,” she said in a letter to the police boss.
“However, as the leadership of the Senate did not call him to order in the circumstance, he proceeded to threaten my life without any provocation whatsoever,” she added.
Report reaching us indicates that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, is at the moment having a closed-door meeting with Senators Oluremi Tinubu and Dino Melaye.
