Authorities of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, Imo State, have shut down the institution over students’ unrest.
On Monday, students of the school staged a protest, where properties of the institution were reportedly destroyed.
It was gathered that the management of the school announced an indefinite closure of the institution.
“We have approved an indefinite closure of AICE,” Provost of the school, Dr Blessing Ijeoma disclosed.
It would be recalled that on Monday, students protested the hike in both tuition and acceptance fees of the school N30,000 to N70,000 and N10,000 to N30,000 respectively without consultation.
The students said the essence of the protest was to draw the attention of management to their plight.
