Battle For 2016 Cowbellpedia TV Quiz Begins

Four months after the qualifying examination for the 2016 Cowbellpedia Mathematics Competition was held nationwide, airing of the second stage of the competition, tagged 2016 Cowbellpedia Mathematics TV Quiz Show, will commence on Saturday, 30th July, 2016.

There is a great expectation and lots of excitement among the 77 male students and 31 female students vying for the ultimate prize of one million naira and an all-expenses paid educational excursion outside the country. The teacher of the winning students will receive four hundred thousand naira.

The first and the second runners-up will go home with N750, 000 and N500, 000 respectively. There will also be plaques, mathematics textbooks and a desktop computer for the winners.

Abiodun Ayodeji, Category Manager, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, explained that the programme will be beamed to millions of Nigerians on the national network of Africa Independent Television, AIT and six other regional television stations across the country.

He added that the second stage, which will be in a quiz format, will be further sub-divided into preliminary, semi-finals and finals. The show will be serialized into 13 episodes.

Parents and stakeholders in the education sector have also lauded Promasidor Nigeria Limited for bankrolling the initiative which is aimed at discovering and celebrating young scientists and inventors in the country

In the 2015 edition, students of Adeyemi Demonstration Secondary School, Ondo, Ondo state and Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja emerged winners. While Ayodeji Akinkuowo of Adeyemi Demonstration College won in the senior category, Munachi Ernest-Eze of Loyola Jesuit won in the junior category.

The ultimate prize for last year’s edition was N750,000, while the teacher of the winner went home with N250,000. The winning school got also got 5 computer units and printers.
