The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, now has a new leader and he is Abubakar Mahmoud (SAN).
Mahmoud was elected as the NBA president on Sunday night in Abuja after a tough electoral process.
The election was conducted through electronic voting and monitored by the Deputy Director, Legal of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mariam Musa.
The new NBA boss defeated his closest rival, Joe-Kyari Gadzama by 3055 votes to 2,384 votes to emerge president of the association.
Announcing the results in the early hours of Monday, August 1, 2016, chairman of the NBA Electoral Committee, Ken Mozia (SAN) said both the first and second Vice Presidents emerged unopposed.
Dajan Gal emerged as the first Vice President with 4057 votes, while Monday Ubani was elected as second Vice President after polling 4375 votes and Olagunju Isiaka as General Secretary with 2721 votes, beating his opponent, Yama Desmond who only got 2510 votes.
Mozia further disclosed that Ohagba Loe polled 2,402 votes to emerge first Assistant Secretary, while Balogun Oyeyemi emerged Legal Adviser with 3068 votes as against Onwuzuike Christopher who polled 2043 votes.
