Reports reaching us indicate that the cancer patient, Mayowa Ahmed, whose #Save Mayowa Campaign fund caused controversies few weeks ago, has breathed her last.
The young lady was said to have died at a hospital in South Africa, where she was flown to for treatment.
Recall that the issue concerning funds raised for her treatment caused issues when a popular actress, Toyin Aimakhu, who was part of those who helped raised funds for her treatment, thought the Ahmed family wanted to scam donors and Nigerians.
She had needed N32 million for the treatment, but over N80 million was realised at the end of the day.
Due to the controversies, the money realised for her treatment was frozen by the police so as to investigate the alleged fraud.
However, after the police were satisfied that the campaign for fund was not a scam, the embargo on the account was lifted.
Thereafter, Mayowa was flown to South Africa for treatment, but she could not survive the stage 4 ovarian cancer she was suffering from. She was said to have died on Sunday afternoon at the hospital.
