Pastor Knocked Unconscious While Attempting To Destroy Shrine In Ogun

A man who claimed to be an evangelist and directed by God to destroy all shrines in his community was knocked unconscious while carrying out the purported directive.

According to Vanguard, the victim, identified as Evangelist Wale Fagbere, got stuck in a shrine in Ketu community in Ayetoro area of Yewa North local government area of Ogun State.

This made residents of the area to raise an alarm and the police were invited, who had to remove him and handed him over to his family.

It was gathered that before he was let go, the priests in charge of the shrine insisted that some rituals must be performed on him.

The Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba Abdulaziz Adelakun had to wade into the matter before the evangelist was treated by the priests and then he regained consciousness.

As at press time, the name of his church could not be ascertained.

Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident, said the man might be charged for sacrilege and malicious damage.

According to him, “The police got the report in Ayetoro that one Evangelist Wale Fagbere went to Ketu to destroy a shrine. After the destruction, the man became unconscious.

“When policemen visited the place, the traditionalists claimed that the subject could not be taken away until some spiritual exercise had been performed. “The Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba AbdulAzeez Adelakun, waded into the matter which led to the release of the man.

“The victim has been revived and has been handed over to his family for more spiritual cleansing.

“Everybody has right to worship anything he so desires.”
