When Lagos Lawmakers Honoured Ex-Deputy Speaker, Farouk Oshodi

It was a solemn but colourful affair on Sunday, April 30, 2017 as lawmakers of the Lagos State House of Assembly led by their Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, bid final farewell to the former Deputy Speaker of the House, Farouk Adegnoyega Oshodi.

The late Oshodi was the Deputy Speaker of the House between 1999 and 2007 serving under three Speakers.

He served under Olorunnimbe Mamora, 1999-2003; Jokotola Pelumi, 2003-2005; and Adeyemi Ikuforiji, 2005-2007. He died on Saturday, 22nd April, 2017 and was buried on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Okesuna cemetery. He was aged 80.

On Sunday, April 30th, 2017, the Lagos State House of Assembly in conjunction with the family of the deceased organised the 8th day Firdau and final burial rites for the former Deputy Speaker.

Apart from Obasa and his colleagues in the House, other prominent guests at the event were: former Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Musiliu Smith; former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Olatunde Obanikoro; and the state Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Adeniji Kazeem. Lagos White Cap Chiefs were also present.

The state Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr Abdul Hakeem Abdul Lateef delivered the firdau lecture.
