A chieftain of All Progressive Congress, APC, at Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government area of Delta State, Theophilus Eridi Ugboduma, has cautioned that the threat by Niger Delta Avengers to resume hostilities and attack on oil facilities will further impoverished the people of the oil rich region.
Speaking in a statement issued at Agbarho last week, Ugboduma, said the threat by the militants to resume attacks could scare away investors, crumble social and economic activities in the region, noting that President Buhari be given a little more time to actualize his positive agenda for the region.
According to him, “It is a fact that President Muhammadu Buhari is genuinely committed to the development of Niger Delta, and two and half years is not enough time for President Buhari to solve all the problems an demands of the people of Niger Delta, little patience and continued dialogue.”
“Let me sincerely advise the militants to rescind their decision and threat to resume bombing of oil facilities, the victims would be the poor people living in the creeks and riverine communities.
“We need human and infrastructural development in Niger Delta and not unrest and unnecessary tension, we need peace and dialogue to achieve our common desire in Niger Delta,” the APC chieftain said.
He continued, “President Buhari alone cannot do it all, his appointees, public office holders and every Nigerian owe it a duty to support the good vision and agenda of the President. As citizens of Nigeria, at our various capacity we could contribute positively to growth and development of our great and only country Nigeria.”
