PRODUCER
A record producer or track producer or music producer oversees and manages the sound recording and production of a band or performer’s music, which may range from recording one song to recording a lengthy concept album. From this definition, it means anyone can be a producer as long as you have good listening ears for music. A music producer might not even know how to play the musical instruments but he definitely knows what and how each instrument should be used.
SOUND ENGINEER
A sound engineer is a person who works in a recording studio. This is who the person who handles the consols. A sound engineer might not necessarily be a beat maker, he also has good listening ears for music and does all editing pertaining to recording, mixing and mastering based on what the Producer wants.
RECORDING
The act of process of putting vocals (in this texture) down for broadcasting or subsequent reproduction. Recording is using the Media room to take down your vocal with the use of a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW).
EDITING
Editing means preparing a recorded material for publication by correcting, condensing, or otherwise modifying it. After recording, the sound engineer has to edit (Adding and subtracting) rearranging, Polish the vocal to sound better before it can be released to the public.
BARS
In musical notation, a bar (or measure) is a segment of time corresponding to a specific number of beats in which each beat is represented by a particular note value and the boundaries of the bar are indicated by vertical bar lines. Many artists do not know how to sequence accordingly, it is a major problem some upcoming face in the recording studio.
BEAT
This is generally called “Instrumentals” Creating a beat is a work of a beat maker alongside a music producer.
REVERB
Reverberation (or ‘reverb’) effects are omnipresent, both in the real world and in music production. Judicious use of reverb can make the difference between a professional recording and something that sounds like it was recorded in a bedroom, adding depth and fullness to the sound.
DELAY
Delay is an audio effect and an effects unit which records an input signal to an audio storage medium and then plays it back after a period of time. The delayed signal may either be played back multiple times, or played back into the recording again, to create the sound of a repeating, decaying echo. Most people call it ECHO.
EQUALIZER
An equalizer is a circuit or equipment used to achieve equalization. Since equalizers, “adjust the amplitude of audio signals at particular frequencies,” they are, “in other words, frequency-specific volume knobs.” It is often used when editing, mixing and mastering a recording
MIXING AND MASTERING
Mastering, a form of audio post-production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device (the master); the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication).
