Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, was on Monday morning arraigned before Justice C.M.A Olatoregun-ishola of the Federal High Court in Lagos.
Fayose was brought before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on an 11-count charge bordering on abuse of office.
He was accused of collecting a huge sum of money from a former Minister.
During the hearing today, the EFCC read the 11-count charge to him and he pleaded not guilty to all of them.
However, when his lawyer, Kanu Agabi (SAN), filed for a bail application on behalf of the former Governor, the judge rejected it.
Justice C.M.A Olatoregun-ishola said Fayose should be kept in custody of the anti-graft agency till Wednesday, when the case would be heard again.
Fayose had been in the custody of the EFCC since last Tuesday, when he went to the Abuja office of the commission.
While in office as Governor of Ekiti State, Fayose heavily criticised President Muhammadu Buhari and it was then speculated that after his tenure expires, he would be severely dealt with by the federal government through the EFCC because he would no longer enjoy immunity.
