Erstwhile media aide to Atiku Abubakar, the PDP Presidential candidate and former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze has hailed the affirmation of the electoral victory of President Mohammadu Buhari by the Supreme Court.
In a unanimous judgment delivered on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, the apex court had struck out the appeal brought before it by Atiku/PDP challenging the victory of President Mohammadu Buhari/APC for lacking in merit, thereby affirming the earlier decision of the Presidential Election Tribunal which confirmed the authenticity of the victory of Mohammadu Buhari and APC in the last presidential election.
In a statement circulated to media houses, Eze said the judgment has laid to rest all speculations and uncertainties expressed by the PDP and media jobbers on the fate of Buhari and the APC at the Supreme Court. He described the victory as monumental, stressing that Nigerians were never perturbed about the security of their confidence on the Presidential Appeal Panel led by the CJN, Ibrahim Tanko.
Chief Eze, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress commended the steadfastness and commitment of the judiciary to manifestly serve justice on the matter amidst the massive and intimidating threats from those he said do not mean well for the country. Recall that the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) in connivance with the PDP and the PDP caucus at the HOR had mounted a stiff opposition against the Supreme Court on the constitution of members of the panel to hear the Atiku/PDP appeal for excluding a justice of the apex who has been hired to do their bidding.
“Gone are the days when judicial officers are stocked like pieces of furniture and receive orders and prohibitions from politicians to serve their whims and caprices. President Buhari has given the judiciary free hand to operate and Nigerians have since moved on with him,” Eze said.
Eze berated Atiku’s lawyers and media aides for luring him into the needless legal battle even when they knew he had no good case. He said Alh. Atiku Abubakar would have saved himself some resources and embarrassments if he had listened to his wise counsel contained in an earlier statement wherein he made it categorically clear that he had very little or no evidences to prove his claims before the court.
He said “the Supreme Court judgement has vindicated my position that Alh. Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party have no case”. Eze further said the PDP would have long accepted defeat at the polls and responsibly move on with their roles as opposition, constructively criticising and offering advice to government where necessary.
He commended Nigerians for their continued support for the APC led federal government and urged them to be committed to national ideals, stressing that President Buhari mean well for Nigeria. He tasked the youth to tap into the very many opportunistic possibilities embedded in the schemes and programs of government to turn their fortunes for greater good.
Eze informed Atiku and the PDP that a lot of progress have been made in the fight against corruption and terrorism; strive for food sufficiency, Transportation and other sectors under the APC led government. He said the president’s commitment in strengthening bilateral ties with key economies is thoughtful and strategic to national development. He added that Buhari’s recent visit to Sochi and his trip to Saudi Arabia will be of immense benefit to the country.
Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze urged Atiku to work in synergy with Mohammadu Buhari in his quest to reposition the country and set her on the path of progress through friendly policies and programs.
